Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about ERP, Odoo, and how SynapseOne implements it, from first questions to support after go-live.

Getting started

What is ERP software?

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software is one system that runs your core business processes, including sales, purchasing, inventory, accounting, HR, manufacturing, and projects. Every team works from the same live data instead of separate spreadsheets and apps.

Which ERP does SynapseOne implement?

We specialize in Odoo, in both editions: Community, which is free and open source, and Enterprise, which adds more apps, features, and official support from Odoo. We help you choose the edition that fits your needs and budget.

How do I know if my business needs an ERP?

You are likely ready for ERP if you rely on several disconnected systems, cannot see inventory, sales, or finances in real time, re-enter the same data in different places, or find that your current tools cannot keep up with growth.

Do you offer a free trial?

No. Instead of a generic trial, we run a demo built around your own processes, so you can see how Odoo would work for your business before you decide.

How much does an ERP implementation cost?

It depends on the edition, the number of users, the modules you need, and how much customization, integration, and data migration is involved. After a discovery session, we give you a clear proposal with scope and milestones. Odoo Enterprise licences are billed separately by Odoo.

Implementation

How do you tailor ERP to my industry?

We start by learning how your business works, then configure Odoo around your processes, using industry features such as lot and expiry tracking, landed costs, or maintenance planning where they apply. You can start with core modules and add more as you grow.

How long does an ERP implementation take?

Timelines depend on your size and complexity and typically range from 6 weeks to 6 months. We agree the scope and milestones up front, so you know what happens at each stage.

How do you avoid disrupting daily operations?

We use a phased rollout, implementing the system in manageable stages, and train each team before its stage goes live. This keeps the business running while the new system is introduced.

Can you integrate Odoo with our existing systems?

Yes. We connect Odoo with your existing tools through standard connectors or custom integrations using APIs, so you can keep what already works and migrate gradually instead of replacing everything at once.

How do you handle data migration?

We review your existing data before migration, clean up duplicates and gaps, and migrate key records such as customers, vendors, products, opening balances, and open orders. We test the migrated data with your team before go-live.

How do you help our team adopt the new system?

We run training tailored to each department, involve your managers early, and roll out in stages. After go-live we stay available to answer questions and refine workflows as your team gets comfortable.

Features and capabilities

Does Odoo provide real-time reporting?

Yes. Odoo includes dashboards and reports that pull live data from sales, inventory, purchasing, and accounting, so you can see trends and act on them without waiting for manual reports.

Will the system scale as my business grows?

Yes. Odoo is modular, so you can add apps, users, warehouses, companies, and countries over time without replacing the system.

Can Odoo work with AI and IoT devices?

Odoo includes built-in automation and can connect to devices such as barcode scanners, scales, and printers. Where it adds real value, we can also integrate AI tools, for example for forecasting or document processing.

What makes SynapseOne different?

We focus on Odoo, start from your business processes rather than the software, agree clear milestones, and stay with you after go-live to keep improving the system.

Security, support, and results

How is our data kept secure?

Odoo supports role-based access rights, two-factor authentication, and encrypted connections. We set up user permissions so each person only sees what they need, and we follow good practice for backups and access control.

What support do you provide after go-live?

We provide ongoing support, training, and system improvements, from fixing issues to adding new workflows, reports, and modules as your business changes.

How do you measure the return on an ERP project?

Before the project starts, we agree the measures that matter to you, such as time saved on manual work, faster order fulfilment, inventory accuracy, or faster month-end close, and review them after go-live.
